Steve's Bio

Hurricane Blanche slammed into Nova Scotia in the mid 70's. At nine, it was quite a sight, watching this hurricane come across when all of a sudden the Sun came out. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but moved to Kansas City, then Toronto, then back to the Canadian Maritimes. Graduated with a Science Degree in Math/Physics from the University Of New Brunswick. Graduated from the Meteorology program at Dalhousie University. Worked with Weather Service as a research assistant, interned for a private company that did North Atlantic oil rig forecasting, and made the switch to CTV. Began at WPTV in 1998, with 2004-05 being the most memorable years. Four hurricanes in six weeks, then Wilma in 2005. Live continuous coverage of 63 hours for Hurricane Frances, and 43 hours for Jeanne. Former Board Member for the American Red Cross, and the annual Steve's Ride for the Red Cross in early June. Also Cystic Fibrosis Foundation volunteer, as well as the Literacy Coalition. Talks to thousands of Floridians each year about the weather, usually hurricane preparedness events.
